A gloomy weather forecast was thankfully proved wrong as the society enjoyed a beautifully sunny day at Castle Howard. The house currently exhibits the film set from the 2007 adaptation of "Brideshead Revisited" on the first floor, whilst on the ground floor there is an exhibition of paintings by the 9th Earl. The rose garden, though past its best, retained a decent display of blooms. In all, the last coach trip of the year was a great success.

Designed by Sir John Vanburgh in 1699 for Charles Howard, the 3rd Earl of Carlisle, Castle Howard is one of the grandest Baroque houses in Britain.
