Chatsworth is one of England's grandest, and most popular, grand houses. Its popularity was apparent from the crowds that had gathered even on a Wednesday; its grandeur became more evident at every turn.

We were treated to excellent weather for our trip, allowing us to explore the extensive gardens. In the afternoon we enjoyed a guided tour of the house with an informative commentary. The Dukes of Devonshire have been art collectors since the seventeenth century, a tradition kept up by their twenty first century successors.

Chatsworth House is the seat of the Duke of Devonshire. It is a family home, a working farm and a living landscape.
