Blue Plaque to William Mason Unveiled

Today saw the unveiling of a the first Blue Plaque in Aston-cum-Aughton. Funded by the Aston-cum-Aughton History Group, the plaque to the memory of Hull born poet William Mason has been mounted on the wall of the William Layne Reading Room. This building was formerly a school funded by William Mason while he was Rector of Aston. A speech was given by Ian Jennings, the present Rector, followed by the performance of an anthem composed by William Mason.
