The Georgian Society enjoyed a glorious spring morning for their annual trip to York. Clifford's Tower was skirted with daffodils and the morning sun played across the Georgian brick work of Fairfax House. In the afternoon the society enjoyed a lecture on the Lunar Society of Birmingham hosted by the York Georgian society.

Extensively adapted in the twentieth century as a cinema and dance hall, Fairfax House was saved from decay and returned to its former glory by York Civic Trust in 1982-84.
