Carol Osgerby gave a fascinating narration to her tour of the Hull valley. The river itself is rarely seen from the road, but the numerous drains, tributaries and canals that surround it are.

Our first stop was the Southburn Archaeological Museum - a small museum run by volunteers. It contains numerous artifacts from the surrounding area, showing the occupation of the land from the neolithic to the present.

Our lunch stop was in Driffield. Later we visited St Michael, Garton on the Wolds, a Norman church with Victorian decorations which were restored as a memorial to Sir Nikolaus Pevsner.

Our final stop was the site of the old church in Leven which was demolished in the nineteenth century.
