The weather was perfect for the last visit of 2012. The house offers an interesting mix of rococo and neoclassical interiors by James Paine and Robert Adam. Photos from the day can be seen on our Facebook page:
Nostell Priory, West Yorkshire
Begun in 1735 by amateur architect Colonel James Moyser with modifications by a young James Paine, this Palladian house was extended after 1765 by Robert Adam, creating one of his most unified classical designs. Raby Castle, County Durham
The castle was built mainly in the 14th century for the Nevill family, who lived there until 1569 when the castle and lands were forfeited to the Crown after the failure of the Rising of the North.
